2012 Traverse City Chamber music Camp

July 23rd - Aug. 4th

The Archipelago Project runs a two summer music program in the Traverse City, MI which combine professional musicians with young talentedmusicians from the area schools.  Students rehearse with Archipelago musicians from 12 p.m.- 4 p.m. Monday-Friday @ Central United Methodist Church. 

Rehearsals are broken down into following sections:

Instrument Specific Class / Warm-ups in separate classrooms.

Groups will rotate through different class sections where they will explore diverse musical styles and how these songs are structured by analyzing the songs with their basic music building blocks.

Students participate in 2 ensembles; a larger ensemble and a chamber ensemble. Larger Ensembles are divided by playing level and chamber ensembles are divided by instrumentation.

Chamber Ensembles include: Brass Choir, Woodwind Choir, String Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and Guitar Ensemble

Select advanced students will also participate in Archipelago All-Stars:
an ensemble composed of select students and teachers.

Styles to include: Classical, Jazz, Polka, Rock, Funk, Ska and Latin
